A domed observatory sits on the summit of Bongraesan, nearly 800m above Yeongwol. The main telescope has an 800mm mirror, so you see the moon and planets with your own eyes. The planetarium dome shows about 9,500 stars. With the town lights far below, clear nights are thick with stars. The road is steep, so nervous drivers may prefer a daytime visit.
