Bamboo stands thick along the Taehwa River for ten ri, roughly four kilometres. Step inside and the tall stalks block the sky, leaving it a notch cooler than outside. When the wind moves, the rustle of leaves follows you down the path. It sits right beside the national garden, so you can walk on from the flower beds, and early morning is the quietest.
