Uljin itineraries
Cave, pavilion and Jukbyeon sea
Start with the blue pools inside Seongnyugul, take in the whole horizon from Mangyangjeong, then head north to Jukbyeon for the science museum, the heart-shaped cove and a bowl of fish soup. With a car this covers the middle of Uljin in one day.
Hupo crab and Deokgu springs
Day one is the pine-grove pavilion in the south and steamed crab at Hupo harbour, then a hot soak deep in a valley. Day two you hike to the spring's source and drive west through Bulyeong Valley, which doubles as the road home to Seoul.
From Samcheok's sea to the pine forest
Come down route 7 with a stop at Jangho harbour in Samcheok, barbecue at a Jukbyeon pension, then day two takes you from the Deokgu spring through Bulyeong Valley to a night among red pines. Finish with a red-crab spread in Hupo. Three days sweeping Uljin north to south.
