Pine trees stand right behind the sand, and when the tide goes out the flats open far into the distance. Families in boots with hand rakes walk out to dig for clams and crabs. If the tide is wrong the flats stay closed, so check the table before choosing a day. The pines also give shade for a rest and a quiet sunset.
