This is the north gate of Hwaseong and works as its main entrance. A half-moon outer wall shields the front so attackers could not rush straight in. The two-storey gate tower is large and richly painted, and you spot it from far down Jeongjo-ro. Many walkers climb the stairs beside it to start the wall path. It is lit up at night.
