A fishing-village beach on the south side of Suncheon Bay, about 3 km long. At low tide the flats open wide and a creek curls through them in an S. The picture everyone comes for is the sun dropping behind the pine-topped islet just offshore. The name Waon means roughly lying warm; locals say a rock on the hill looks like a resting ox. Winter brings migratory birds such as black-necked cranes.
