A temple on the northern slope of Mt. Jogyesan, ranked with Haeinsa and Tongdosa as one of Korea's three jewel temples. It became the Sangha Jewel temple after the monk Jinul made it his training ground, and it produced 16 national teachers. The grounds hold about 80 buildings and 27 designated heritage items, three of them National Treasures. The approach, past a covered bridge over the stream and a pavilion, is half the pleasure.
