The tower tops Mt. Namsan at about 480 metres above sea level and the whole city spreads out below. You do not need to go up the observatory to see it: the plaza terrace and railings give a wide view, and the fence of love locks is the classic photo spot. Go up before sunset and catch both the dusk and the lights coming on. The plaza is free; the observatory costs extra.
