A small palace right beside the City Hall plaza. Neoclassical stone halls stand between hanok buildings, so two eras are on view in one yard. It was Emperor Gojong’s home in his last years, and a guard-changing ceremony runs three times a day outside the main gate, Daehanmun. It stays open until 9pm, which makes it a popular after-work night walk. Leave by the stone wall lane and you drift into the Jeongdong streets.
