Hundreds of hanok sit on a hill between Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung. From the upper part of Bukchon-ro 11-gil you look down over tile roofs to the Seoul skyline. People live here, so the district limits visiting hours and zones to cut noise. You walk the lanes looking at gates and latticed windows, and workshops offer short traditional crafts. Slopes are steep, so wear good shoes.
