Paju itineraries
Heyri lanes and the book forest
One bus from Hapjeong gets you to Paju's western edge. Walk the Heyri lanes in the morning, sit under ceiling-high shelves at the Forest of Wisdom in the afternoon, then eat a tofu dinner made from local Jangdan beans before heading back.
A day at Imjingak, a day at Heyri
Day one goes right up to the dividing line: the tunnel, the observatory and the gondola, then down to Heyri for the night. Day two is slow lanes and a royal tomb. One tense day, one easy one.
From the border to lakes and woods
A full loop of Paju by car. Day one is the Imjin River and the Gamaksan suspension bridge up north, day two the arboretum and Majang Lake to the east, day three the Book City and Heyri in the west. The scenery changes with each neighbourhood.
