Miryang travel info
Miryang is a small inland city in South Gyeongsang, between Daegu and Busan. Yeongnamnu pavilion sits on a cliff above the Miryang River, and from its railing you see the river, a bamboo grove and the town roofs in one sweep. Plenty of people say the view back up at it from the riverside path at dusk is even better.
About an hour east, in the foothills of the Yeongnam Alps, is Eoreumgol, the Ice Valley. Cold air seeps from the rocks even in midsummer, and ice is heaviest from late July to early August. A cable car climbs to the ridge toward Mt. Jaeyaksan, and Pyochungsa temple lies in the same direction, so the two pair well in a day.
The food is soup. Pork rice soup, loach soup and catfish stew cluster in the town centre. Note that Miryang Station is about 3 km from downtown, and spots like Eoreumgol and Wiyangji are scattered further out. Without a car, check bus times before you plan the day.
