When the tide drops, a path of wet sand opens from Hoedong across the water to Modo island. Many people take their shoes off and cross barefoot over shells and ripples. A legend of Old Lady Ppong, who waited here for her family, is tied to the place, and a statue of her stands on the hill. The spring festival draws crowds, but on an ordinary day the path is quiet.
