The restored seat of Joseon-era Jeolla Province

Address

19 Jeollagamyeong-ro, Wansan-gu, Jeonju

This is a restoration of the gamyeong, the government seat that once ruled all of Jeolla Province in Joseon times. Sitting among city blocks rather than in the hanok village, it is much quieter. The government halls spread around a wide yard give a sense of an official compound’s scale. Link it with Gaeksa on one walk.
