From the car park you climb a forest road for about an hour, and suddenly both sides turn white. Birch trunks crowd together, and fallen leaves or snow muffle your steps. Entry is free; the 5,000 won parking fee comes back as a local gift voucher. The forest closes during the spring fire-risk season, so check before you drive out.
