King Munmu of Silla is said to have asked that his ashes be placed in the East Sea so he could guard it after death. From Bonggil beach you see a rock outcrop in the water, and the underwater royal tomb lies inside it. Standing on the beach with the horizon ahead makes the story feel real. Igyeondae and Gameunsa Temple site nearby fill out the day.
