Ask a Gwangju local where to meet and the answer is usually Chungjang-ro. Clothing shops, snack counters and old signboards crowd each other, and the street gets younger as you walk toward the Culture Complex. The back lanes are packed with restaurants, including pork-soup counters. The annual festival wrapped up in early October, but the street is lively any day.
