The maple forest begins just past Jikjeon village. It takes about 30 minutes on a well-made track to the Pyogomaktteo site. The one kilometre from there to Samhongso is the reddest stretch. You can choose from 2 km to 8 km round trip. Peak colour is late October to early November, and there are seasonal entry closures in spring and autumn.
