Cafés line the shore, and you can carry a cup straight down onto the sand. The place first became known for its vending-machine coffee and has since filled with proper cafés. Many have window seats facing the sea, so you end up staying put for a while. Gangneung Port's breakwater is close by, and a walk ends at its lighthouse.
