Gaeksa-ri, Damyang-eup, along the embankment of the Damyang stream

Old trees, many of them hackberry and similar broadleaves, form a roof along the Damyang stream embankment. They were planted when the dyke was built to hold back floods, and the woods are Natural Monument No. 366. In autumn the leaves turn yellow and red over the path, and there is no entry fee or parking charge. Noodle shops cluster on the street beside the embankment, handy when the walk gets you hungry. It sits between the bamboo grove and the Metasequoia road, right in the middle of any Damyang walking route.
