Walk a little east of Daejeon Station and low roofs and narrow lanes appear as if time had slipped back. Cafes and tea rooms made from railway officials’ houses, built under Japanese rule, hide down each alley. Many have courtyards or old wooden doors left as they were, which makes for good photos. The area is under redevelopment, so the lanes change a little every year.
