The market grew out of a trading ground outside the west gate of the old Daegu fortress. Fabric, bedding, hanbok, tableware and sundries line the lanes, and stalls selling flat dumplings and knife-cut noodles squeeze in between. By day it is all haggling; by evening the night market fills the air with grilled skewers. Even if you only come to look, an hour goes by fast.
