The name comes from the east wall of the old Daegu fortress, which this street follows. Today it is a pedestrian zone packed with clothing shops, cosmetics stores, cafés and snack counters. Ask a local where to meet and the answer is usually Dongseongno. After dark the signs come on and every side alley fills up. Seomun Market and the herb market are within walking distance, so you can drift off in either direction when hunger hits.
