In 1919 sixteen-year-old Yu Gwan-sun stood at the centre of the uprising at the Aunae market. The site gathers a memorial hall, a shrine and the home site in one compound. The shrine stairs are steep, but the top looks down over the village. A footpath beyond leads up Maebongsan to the Chohonmyo grave. Many visitors finish with a meal in Byeongcheon's sundae alley.
