The pond is said to date from King Mu of Baekje. From late June into early July lotus flowers cover the water, and the Seodong Lotus Festival runs around then with lights and stage shows at night. This year's 24th edition ran July 3 to 5. Outside the bloom, the walk across the bridge to the Poryongjeong pavilion among weeping willows is still pleasant. There is no entry fee.
