Yeoja Bay off Beolgyo has a wide expanse of fine mud, the reason it is famous for cockles. At low tide the flats open up and locals push wooden mud boards while raking for cockles. Hands-on trips depend on the tide, so choosing the date is half the job. Parts of the flats are protected wetland, so go only where allowed.
