Andong itineraries
Hahoe by day, Wolyeonggyo by night
Take the morning train from Cheongnyangni and you get Hahoe by lunch, the jjimdak alley at dinner and the lit-up Wolyeonggyo bridge before the ride home. The tightest one-day loop Andong has.
Old houses and Toegye’s valley
Skip crowded Hahoe and head for the quiet side: Korea’s oldest wooden hall, a house that raised eleven independence fighters and Toegye’s academy on the lake. Night one is beef ribs and an Andong soju cocktail.
Three days, two old houses
Night one in a hanok resort by Wolyeonggyo, night two inside Hahoe at Bukchondaek. Walking the village after the tourists leave and again in the morning mist is the whole point. Day three heads past the lake to Toegye’s valley.
